Port Blair, Nov 09: Various banks operating in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands have made special arrangements to help Customers exchange scraped notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000.
While all the banks of Andaman and Nicobar Islands will remain open on coming Saturday and Sunday, SBI has some more arrangements.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, Mr. Aloke Kumar Saha, Regional Manager, Region 1 (A&N Islands), South 24 Paraganas Module, State Bank of India, said that tomorrow all branches of SBI will open one hour before normal time and all staffs will be working two hours after normal working hours to help public.
Mr Aloke said that one person can exchange upto Rs 4000 on a day for which the customer is supposed to come with his KYC and valid address proof like Aadhar Card or Pan Card.
“Customers, whose KYC is already existing in the bank can deposit any amount of cash, there is no limit for them but the Customers whose KYC is not clear or the bank has not obtained it yet can deposit an amount of Rs 49,900 only,” Mr Aloke said.
On the withdrawal part, he said that a person can withdraw Rs 10,000 on a day, Rs 20,000 on a week and can withdraw not more than Rs 2000 per day from the ATMs.
He said that arrangements are also being made to send new notes of Rs. 500 and Rs. 2000 via flights from Kolkata.
Mr Aloke Kumar Saha finally requested the General Public not to panic in this situation and also requested the General Public to get Mobile Banking and Internet Banking facilities, so that in future things become easy during any crisis.
He also requested the businessmen and Shop owners to use POS or swipe Machine in their shops.
