Port Blair, Nov 07: On the 4th day of the Annual Training Camp, about 250 Naval NCC cadets along with ANOs, Care Takers, Teachers and NCC PI Staff visited the Floating Dock Navy (FDN), the Naval Ship Repair Yard and an Indian Naval Ship.
As part of their training, the cadets for the first time, got to see and understand the functioning and importance of the FDN. The visit to NSRY was an eye opener for the cadets to understand the efforts taken to maintain the Naval assets and the technology available.
The rare opportunity of visiting INS Karmuk at the Naval Jetty Haddo was an ultimate experience. The efforts taken by the Indian Navy personnel to explain to the cadets various facets/role of the Navy was appreciated by all.
The cadets described their visit a very memorable one and motivated a large number of cadets to join the Armed Forces. A lecture cum demonstration on First Aid was organised in the afternoon for the cadets in the camp premises by the Station Health Organisation of the Indian Navy. All the activities for the day were facilitated by the Naval Component / HQ ANC.
On the 5th day small arms training & weapon drill was conducted for all the cadets. A lecture on Road Safety and Traffic rules was conducted by the A&N Police. Informative videos and educational films were shown by the Traffic Department for the benefit of the cadets. Volleyball, tug of war and Kabbadi matches were conducted between the various troops.
Small arms firing practice for the outstation cadets from Lapathy, Sabari & Mayabunder was conducted at the firing range at the Mil Stn. A Swachha Bharat Abhiyaan was conducted in the Haddo area by the cadets. A lecture on Disaster management was conducted by the State Disaster Management Cell in the afternoon. PT in the morning and cultural activities in the evening are conducted every day”
