Port Blair, Nov 06: The Annual Training Camp 2016 of Naval unit NCC started on 02 Nov with the arrival of cadet and setting up of the camp. The inauguration ceremony was held on 03 Nov in the premises of the Govt. Middle school, Telugu Medium Haddo, Port Blair with the hoisting of the NCC flag and the Camp Commandant’s address. 255 NCC Naval Cadets are attending the camp from school and college of these Islands. The Headmistress of the school addressed the cadet and the Ward Councillor Ward No.1 who has extended enormous support was present on the occasion.
The traning session commenced by the customary parade followed by a lecture cum presentation on “Indian Navy and avenues to join” by officers deputed by the Naval Component of HQ ANC. Later in the day, the cadet were provided information on Health and Hygiene by Dr. Taposh Dakua from DHS which was very useful to the cadets.
On 04 Nov the NCC cadets participated in an “Anti-Tobacco Rally” with placard & slogans. The principal, GSSS, Telugu Medium flagged of the rally in the presence of the Commanding Officer. The rally started from the school premises and went around the Haddo area spreading awareness on the ill effects of tobacco consumption especially by the youth. All PI staffs, ANOs/ caretaker and officer staff participated in the rally. Later in the afternoon a lecture on social welfare programmes of the Govt. was delivered by Shri AK Biswas the resource person from Social Welfare Department for the benefit of the cadets attending the camp.
