Port Blair, June 03: Patients in Bambooflat Hospital are having a horrible time these days as during power cuts, the hospital staffs are allegedly not turning on the Generator Set.
Even serious patients are left to struggle in darkness and unbearable heat, which ultimately makes their treatment more painful.
“On last Saturday after power cut for nearly one hour patients were left to struggle and there was no one to switch on the standby generator. Even after requests, staffs did not turn on the generator saying that they CMO had asked them to use the Generator only during emergency. There were serious patients who were having difficult time. There was also a dead body inside the ward,” complained a patient.
Patients complained that adding to the plight, the hospital authority had issued only one candle for each ward, which, anyone one say, was grossly inadequate.
However, when a few fuming relatives of patient approached the doctor on duty, the generator was switched on.
“Is it necessary to contact and request them every time for switching on the generator set during power cuts. Atleast Hospitals should have uninterrupted power supply,” a patient added.
