Port Blair, Oct 31: The NCC cadets of Navy, Army & Air force alongwith the Commanding Officer, ANO’s and staffs of NCC, Port Blair visited the Old age home at Abhudaya Complex, Ferrargunj on 28th October 2016.
The visit of the cadets to the old age home and orphanage was specially conducted to encourage the youth to understand their social responsibilities towards the old and under privileged people. The cadets met the old, differently-abled inmates and the children present at the Home.
The NCC cadets conducted a cleanliness drive around the complex and collected waste and garbage, which were disposed off properly. The SW cadet made a Diwali Rangoli at the entrance to the Home. It was followed by a cultural programme presented by the NCC cadets, which was witnessed by the old age inmates, children and staffs of the home with full of enthusiasm. The children of the home also presented a dance. The programme was enjoyed by everyone present on the occasion. The inmates were overwhelmed and appreciated the noble gesture shown by the NCC cadets and staff towards them. The NCC Unit donated indoor as well as outdoor sports kits to the inmates for their recreation. Sweets and clay lamps (with oil and wicks) were also donated to the old age home inmates for Diwali.”
