Port Blair, Oct 27: Unwanted delay in sailing of Ship MV Chowra caused huge inconvenience to nearly 250-300 passengers at Haddo Jetty this afternoon.
The Ship MV Chowra was scheduled to sail for Car Nicobar via Little Andaman this morning at around 07:00am but due to utter dismay of the passengers the ship sailed at around 03:00 pm.
According to the passengers, they were informed that the Doctor of the ship was unavailable onboard following which the sailing was delayed. Passengers were made to wait for more than 8 hours, it is learnt.
“We didn’t even have breakfast due to the sailing of the ship in the early morning and it is now 01:00pm and there is no possibility of having lunch as we were not allowed to even board the ship,” said one of the passengers requesting anonymity.
However, the CISF after repeated request allowed some of the passengers to go out at their own risk to have Lunch.
Such delay in sailing of ships is not a new story. Every month such incidents are repeated in Andaman but it seems shipping department is not learning any lesson from past mistakes.
