Port Blair, Oct 27: The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman visited Chouldhari along with the Pradhan, Zilla Parishad Member, Pramukh and Up-Pradhan. During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner inspected Chouldhari Dam, Marine Jetty area and land allotted for Navodaya Vidhyalaya at Port Mout. The Deputy Commissioner also visited the spot where land slide had occurred in the recorded land of Smt. Saraswati Singh and Shri Marcus Dingra which was brought to his knowledge during the public hearing.
The Deputy Commissioner (SA) assured that the issue of 30% water supply to the local residence from Chouldhari Dam will be taken up with the defence establishment. The matter of construction of the RCC complex by PMB at Marine Jetty at Chouldhari shall also be taken up by the Dy. Commissioner. The Dy. Commissioner further assured that the construction of Navodaya Vidhyalaya at Port Mout where the Administration has allotted 5 hectares of land will be taken up with the authority. With regard to land sliding, the Dy. Commissioner has assured that the land slide area shall be protected by utilizing the fund of MGNREGA.
