Port Blair, Oct 25: As a curtain raiser event of its 43rd anniversary, the Naval Ship Repair Yard (Port Blair) conducted an environmental interface programme at ‘North Wandoor’ beach on Oct 23 during which beach cleaning exercise was undertaken. Addressing Yard personnel and family members, Commodore DK Goswami, Commodore Superintendent of the Yard impressed upon his team to leave positive green footprints on the surroundings, in order to maintain the eco-sensitive environment of A&N Islands.
Several small teams comprising personnel of the Yard and their families, including small children cleaned the plastic waste and garbage left by visitors, in the stretch of more than one kilometer. The waste collected from the beach was transported back to the Naval Ship Repair Yard for further disposal.
