
Port Blair, Oct 24 : The lone Member of Parliament, Mr Bishnu Pada Ray has summarily refuted all allegations of insulting the Tamil and Telugu communities in these islands as claimed by the local unit of the Youth Wing of DMK party and has said that all the allegations are politically motivated.
“I have never said people of Tamil and Telegu Community as thieves. There is a deep political conspiracy behind this to tarnish my image,” the MP said during a press conference organized on Saturday.
The MP said that a group of people and politicians are targeting him because of his recent support to Alcohol and Tobacco Ban movement.
“I have supported the anti-alcohol campaign and also took park in a rally demanding alcohol ban. I have also supported the ban on tobacco in Andaman, which has not gone down well among some people,” the MP said but he refused to mention anyone’s name.
“Media persons are wise enough to understand,” he said.
He said that the allegation that he is anti-Tamil community is also wrong because he is worked whole heartedly the Tamil community too.
“It was during the NDA regime that the statue of Kamraj was installed, Tamizhar Sangam was constructed under the MPLAD fun, permission for explosives was granted for quarry operators etc.,” said Mr Ray.
Mr. Sakthiselean and Mr. Choudhary, traders of Zarda during the press meet supported the MP and said that they were also present with MP during the meeting with Food Safety officer and during or after the meet the MP didn’t use any abusive word for Tamil community.
