Port Blair, May 31: A fire broke out this evening in a house at Delanipur and gutted some portions but due to timely intervention by the staffs of Fire Services the fire was brought under control, before any major fire mishap.
“According to eye witnesses, people living in the house, the fire spread from wirings, which means the reason behind the fire accident was short circuit. However, detailed investigation will be carried out tomorrow morning by our staffs. The house owner intimated us well on time and we reached the spot immediately to douse the fire,” Mr. Aynesh Roy, the Chief Fire Officer of Fire Services told Andaman Sheekha today.
The house was located on the first floor of Govindama’s Yamaha showroom.
Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar has lauded the efforts of Fire Services for this timely action. “Because of timely action a major fire mishap has been averted otherwise the fire would have caused devastation in Delanipur area. Kudos to all Jawans of Fire Services,” Mr. B P Ray added.
As the crowd swelled to witness the fire-fighting it became almost impossible to control public. Later Staffs of PS Aberdeen deed a wonderful job of clearing the area to ensure that fire-fighters could carry out their job smoothly.
