Port Blair, Oct 21: In a heroic act today, a constable of Andaman and Nicobar police on Thursday saved a precious life by risking his own life at Chatham Jetty.
According to reports yesterday at around 10:20 pm a man, namely Prem Ram Bhudhwa, S/o Dharam Ram a resident of Padauk Bagicha, Manarghat, who was under heavy influence of alcohol slipped into sea at Chatham Jetty.
When the matter was reported to the Police Control Room, a PCR team immediately reached the spot under the overall supervision of DySP South Andaman, Mr. Ajay Kumar Rai.
Sensing the man at grave danger, PC G James of Chatham Police Station, immediately jumped into sea, holding a rope and went around 30-40 meters away from Jetty and saved the man.
The man was later rushed to the GB Pant Hospital, where the doctors declared him out of danger.
