Port Blair, Oct 20: The Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, Andaman and Nicobar Islands organised territory wide Mass Demonstration as part of the All India programme called by the Confederation of Central Govt. Employees & Workers, New Delhi demanding immediate settlement of the Charter of Demands.
At Port Blair, the programme was organised in front of the Secretariat where hundreds of government employees from various departments joined the Mass Demonstration. Speaking on the occasion, Shri T.S.Sreekumar, General Secretary of the Association expressed concern over the non-settlement of the various demands put before the government by the NJCA and urged the govt. employees for a united struggle to achieve them.
He told the gathering about the indifferent attitude of the government towards the assurance given by the Group of Ministers on 30th June, 2016 to the leaders of NJCA for revising the Minimum Wage and Fitment formula.
Shri S.L.Vinjit, Secretary, South Andaman Teachers’ Branch explained about the undue delay in decision of various allowances and about the retrograde decision to fix ‘Very Good’ as benchmark for promotion and financial upgradation. Slogans were raised on the demands putforth before the Govt. of India.
Shri Anand Raj, Secretary, Secretariat Sub-Committee also spoke on the occasion. The Mass Demonstration was organised under the leadership of Shri P.Satyapal, President; Shri D.N.Banerjee, Vice President; Shri R.Rajendran, Asst. General Secretary and Shri Clement Stephen, Finance Secretary. Similar programmes were also organised at Diglipur, Billyground and Rangat where hundreds of govt. employees and workers participated in the programme.
At Diglipur, the programme was held in front of the office of the Assistant Commissioner led by Shri K.P.Paul and Shri N.K.Paul in which Shri Arumugam, Shri Deepak Karmakar and Shri Gopal Chandra Dey addressed the gathering. At Rangat, the demonstration was held in front of Asistant Commissioner’s office. Shri Adaikkan, Shri Ali Akbar, Shri Natarajan and Shri Suresh Kumar spoke on the occasion. A demonstration programme was held at Billyground Bazaar by the Billyground Branch where Shri S.Bawali, S.Mirdha, Satyaban Gain and Amitesh Maitra addressed the gathering.
