Port Blair, Oct 19: Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, PCC President extending congratulations and good wishes to Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, Administrator, A & N islands said that the Islanders expect a lot from a matured politician and an experienced academician like him to see that the Islands propel in right direction for all-round development under his Captaincy. In his letter Shri Kuldeep further said that establishment of a Central University in A & N Islands is a long cherished demand of the Islanders and discussions were held on earlier occasion and certain ground work has been initiated in this direction by the local administration.
Shri Kuldeep expressed happiness to know that along with some other projects the administrator have come forward for materializing the long pending idea of Congress party for establishing a Central university in these islands.
The PCC President requested the Administrator that the proposed university should not be only Port Blair centric but need of development of other Islands should also be kept in mind while finalizing the proposal.
For a feasibility study, visit of some Senior officials from mainland is scheduled shortly and as a public worker, he would like to participate in the discussion evolving examining the proposal of the proposed Central University, the PCC President added. He further opined that representatives from all political parties, PRIs and prominent citizens of the Islands also be invited during the proposed discussion.
