Port Blair, Oct 19: The Offciating Chairperson, A&N UT Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Mrs Kiran Tigga who visited the Secondary School Mohanpur along with the Pradhan of the area, Amar Mondal and Zilla Parishad member, Naren Mondal on 18th October on receipt of complaint from the villagers of Mohanpur has noticed numerous number of problems in the school.
As per Mrs Kiran Tigga, due to shortage of Classrooms in the school the students of class 2nd to 5th were made to sit in the same class which is a clear cut violation of RTE Act.
Not only this, she said that there was no science lab for the students of 9th and 10th Standard. Mrs Kiran Tigga also noticed that due to non-availability of hostels, many students are suffering a lot and left the school as they have to travel a very long distance i.e 10-15 km by walk.
She added that just because of non-availability of cook, basic infrastructure, damaged hostel building the hostel was closed. According to her the hostel was closed long back letting many students to suffer.
She finally added that the SSC Mohanpur is catering to the students of villages like Gannadabla, Badadabla, Pailoon, Boorang, Austin 2, Kalapahad, Haratekry, Jayakatai etc.
Mrs Kiran Tigga finally also noticed that the school was running without Head master.
The Chairperson A&N UT Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Mrs Kiran Tigga has asked the Director of Education to reply about the irregularities found in the school as well as the authorities for not following the RTE Act.
