Port Blair, Oct 4: The Andaman & Nicobar State Cooperative Bank inaugurated its modernised branch at Garacharma-I on Monday. Mr Bhagat Singh, Chairman of the Bank was the chief guest on the occasion. The programme was also attended among others by Smt. Laxmi Singh, Mr K Muthu, Councillor, Ward No. 19, Mr Uday Kumar, Sr. Vice Chairperson, PBMC, Mr Ravinder Rao, Managing Director, ANSCB, Bank Officials and a large gathering of local residents of the area.
In his inaugural address, Mr Bhagat Singh urged the gathering to propagate the various schemes of Govt. of India/Administration like PMSBY, PMJJBY among the bank customers and villagers. He also requested Mr K Muthu, Councillor, Ward No. 19 and Mr Uday Kumar, Sr. Vice Chairperson, PBMC to help in this matter. He also emphasised that the Modernised branch is functioning under the CBS platform and recording each and every financial transaction digitally without any human error, ensuring the perfect recording of the transaction. He also informed the gathering that the bank shall introduce new schemes for Women’s and Disabled sections of the society at concessional rate of interest for which the modalities are being worked out. He also emphasised to stress upon Swachh Bharat Mission and urged bank staff to keep the branch premises neat and tidy including the surroundings.
Further, he urged the villagers to keep their area neat and clean under the Swachh Bharat Mission launched by the Prime Minister of India. He also informed that the Bank shall assess the nearby villages for awarding cash prize with the help of Ward Councillors and Revenue officials under Swachh Bharat Mission. The Bank while commencement of distribution of pension for old age, widow and disabled person requested the then Lt. Governor Mr Bhopinder Singh to enhance the pension from Rs. 1000 to Rs. 2000, which was subsequently increased to Rs. 2000. Now, he told with the increase in living cost coupled with price index this pension amount is further to be increased. He urged all the people of the area to come forward and open their Savings A/c with the Bank and avail the benefits of ATM. He has informed the people present on the occasion that the ANSCB is issuing instant Rupay Debit cards which are assessable in ATMs of all banks and the ATM cards of all banks are accessable in ANSCB ATM. He also urged the general public to avail all the Govt. Sponsored schemes. He also urged the Councillors and PRI members to channelize their funds through ANSCB which would further strengthen the deposit position of the bank and onward lending to the needy.
Mr K Muthu, Councillor, Ward No. 19 also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the efforts of the Bank and thanked the Management and Staffs for the Modernization of one of its most important branch of the area. Mr Uday Kumar, Sr. Vice Chairperson, PBMC in his address informed that Garacharma I is one of the oldest bank branches of Garacharma and has always supported and assisted the general public for their various banking needs. He further appreciated the efforts in modernizing the branch and making the branch good in all avenues.
Welcoming the gathering, Mr Ravinder Rao, Managing Director (MD) informed that ANSCB, Garacharma I has added one more feather to its banking fold by the inauguration of its Modernised branch for the people. He further informed that ANSCB, Garacharma I had commenced its banking services in the year 1984 and since then the branch had added over 11,000 customers under its banking fold. The branch has a deposit of Rs. 26.00 Crores and advances of Rs. 20.00 Crore. He also urged all the general public to come forward and avail ATM services of the bank. He also requested the general public to join Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Scheme and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Scheme. He also asked the general public to be cautious with their ATM Pin and other details and urged all the customers not to reveal their card and Pin details to anyone.
