Port Blair, Sept 29: With response to the call for “Liquor Free Andamans” under “Swatch Samaaj Abhiyaan”, being a responsible citizen of these Islands, Mr. E. K Arif Ali, the owner of Light House Residency, 11 MG Road, Port Blair has set an example. Mr. E K Arif Ali has declared to close the liquor sales in his hotel w.e.f. 02.10.2016 onwards.
“Being a tribute to Gandhiji’s dream, on a social concern and for the betterment of the local youths and public for having a healthier life, from my part, I voluntarily wish to close up my Bar business permanently toward a small token of support for abolition of liquor in Andaman to make these Islands Liquor Free,” Mr. Ali said in a press communication.
This step taken by Mr. E. K. Arif Ali will certainly set an example in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, where deaths because of alcohol has become an everyday affair.
