Port Blair, Sept 20: Gender Champions for the Academic Session 2016-17 have been selected from among the students of JNRM for the promotion of gender equality in the college and society.
They have been advised by the principal, Dr.N Francis Xavier to stand for the protection of girl students, create an environment that fosters equal treatment. They were advised to wear there Gender champion badges with pride.
Gender champions play a very important rile by identifying gaps in college activities vis-a vis gender and make recommendations on how to address these gaps.
They also provide overall guidance to the peer group in mainstreaming gender in all activities of the institution in the form of group discussions. The programme was coordinatinated by the nodal officer, Dr.Hema Banerjee.
