Port Blair, Sept 18: A function was organized in the Govt. Sr. Sec School, School Line to felicitate teachers who had shown improvement in the performance of students during the session 2015-2016 and administer oath to the Ministers of the newly constituted Youth Parliament on Saturday. Dr. Suman Devi, Deputy Director of Education (Acad.), Directorate of Education was the chief guest, while Mr C. H. Babu, Councillor, PBMC was present as the guest of honour.
Altogether five teachers of the institution viz Mr Dinesh Kumar Singh (PGT- Physics), Mr Sanjay Kumar Jha (PGT- Biology), Mr Bhagirath Rai (PGT- Chemistry), Mr B. P. Singh (PGT- History) and Mr Alexus Dung-Dung (PGT- Geography) were honoured with the letter of Appreciation from the Secretary (Education) for their hard work and sincere effort in improving the learning of students during the session 2015-2016. Dr. Suman Devi, Deputy Director of Education (Acad.) handed over the letter of appreciation to teachers and lauded their efforts for enhancement of learning level of children. She called upon the selected teachers to work like a role model for other teachers. Appreciating the effort and activities of the school, she said that school is rising in all fields of education and will surely reach the land mark of excellence. Dr. Suman Devi distributed prizes to winners of the various competitions held in the school during Hindi fortnight and other special/specific days.
With the objective to aware the students about Election procedure/process in democracy and make them understand the role & responsibilities of elected representatives, Youth Parliament has been constituted in the school. Mr C. H. Babu administered oath to the elected student representatives. Whereas, badging of ministers was done by Dr. Suman Devi. In his address, Mr Babu informed the members of Youth Parliament about their roles and responsibilities as representative. He called upon the Youth Parliament to work for the welfare of School and its students. He assured all possible help to school from PBMC.
Earlier, Mr Sharad Chandran, Vice Principal of the institution welcomed the gathering and briefed about the activities of the school and the democratic process adopted for election of Youth Parliament members.
