Madhupur, 16 Sep: A rural road which connects Subhashgram with Madhupur via Krishnapuri collapsed at Madhupur Ward No. 6 more than a month ago. More than 500 people were utilizing this road on daily basis.
Due to this damaged road now people have to take a long ride to reach their home.
Instead of damaged road some two wheeler riders are still utilizing the road by putting their lives at risk.
The complete road stretch from Steel bridge of Krishnapuri to Sitanagar has reportedly developed cracks and in some places APWD has put bitumen drums as wall to protect this road.
At one side of the road the earth is stocked and there is no drain. There are some culverts on the road but due to lack of maintenance the culverts are chocked and thus water flowing from below the road surface, resulting road cracking and earth cutting.
A new drain is also being constructed now despite rains for which earth cutting was done, which may also be a reason for the collapse of the road.
This road belonged to Zilla Parishad but was reportedly handed over to Panchayat after construction.
Now when the road was damaged both Zilla Parishad and Panchayat are blaming each other.
Public are now demanding that instead of blaming each other they should focus on welfare of the public and take immediately steps stop further damage of the road.
The collapsed road has also raised questions over the quality of road construction works and foundation works.
