Port Blair, September 16: An eight-year old boy on Thursday drowned in a nallah behind his house at Wimberlygunj Village, South Andaman. The body was found this morning.
The deceased, identified as Vaibhav Lakra, aged 8 years, resident of Wimberlygunj, had reportedly gone out to respond to nature’s call when, it is believed that, he accidentally slipped into the nallah, which was swelling with heavy flow of rain water.
As per details, there was heavy flow in the nallah due to incessant rain since Thursday morning.
When family members reported this matter to police a massive search operation was launched but till late night the boy could not be traced.
Later a joint team of general public, Police, Forest Department, Fire Brigade and Police diving team found the body this morning at around 8.30 AM, in a nallah, nearly 4 km away from the Accident site.
Entire South Andaman region witnessed heavy rain yesterday, which resulted in flooding in many low lying areas and nallahs.
