Port Blair, Sept 12: The Department of sociology and the Department of psychology of Andaman college (ANCOL) Organized a debate competition on the topic “the sociological factors” or “The psychological factors” Responsible for suicide on 12th September, 2016.
The debate competition brought exposure among the students to clearly understand the connectivity between the sociological and psychological reasons seeding for attempting suicide or origin of suicide tendencies.
The team headed by Mr.s.Naveen,III Year B.A Sociology debated for sociological factor and the team headed by Ms. Pooja Rao III B.Sc psychology, debated for psychological factors responsible for suicide.
Mr. S. Parthiban, HOD Sociology coordinated the debate competition. In his address he vividly illustrated that how the sociological/psychological reasons/condition yielding for many ways of attempting suicide and the ways and approaches in which the suicide can be eradicated from the society maximum possible.
Dr. Pushbavalli, HOD English was judge of the debate. In her judgment she stated that the sociological and psychological causes are both sides of the single coin to be a victim for suicide. Hence, she declared that both psychology and psychological are responsible for suicide.
