Port Blair, Sept 09: The Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, A & N Islands strongly denounce the decision of Railway Ministry, Govt. of India to introduce ‘Flexi Fare System’ in Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Duranto trains from Friday the 9th September, 2016.
As per the new Flexi Fare system or Surge Pricing, first 10% seats of these trains will be sold at the base fare, which will increase by 10% with every 10% of the tickets sold. The base fares will increase by upto 50% once half of the seats on a train are sold out. Shri T.S Sreekumar, General Secretary of the Association said that the dynamic price system will translate into an increase in fares by 30-40 % for most of the passengers and is a huge fare hike through backdoor. This scheme, however, excludes AC First Class and Executive Class reflecting the pro-rich bias Central Government.
This Association exresses its strong protest and demands the government to withdraw the decision in the interest of common man, employees & workers.
