Port Blair, Aug 31: The Annual Sports Prize Distribution Function of ICAR – Central Island Agricultural Research Institute here was held on the National Sports Day (Aug 29). The Director of the Institute, Dr. S. Dam Roy, was the chief guest on the occasion. The prizes were distributed among the staff and their families for their excellent performance in various events of sports for general proficiency. Mr. J. Raymond Jani Angel was awarded the “Best athlete” for Annual sports, 2016. Addressing the gathering, the Director commemorated the legendary middle-forward hockey player, Major Dhyan Chand on his 111th birth anniversary and also congratulated the prize winners. Dr. Jai Sunder, Chairman, Sports Committee, Mr. K. Saravanan and Mr. Abhay Kumar Srivastava, Members, Sports Committee alongwith all the Head of Divisions and sections were also present on the occasion. Mr. A. Anuraj, Member, Sports Committee proposed the vote of thanks.
