Port Blair, Aug 31: In order to help the needy meritorious students of A&N Islands who wish to pursue MBBS Course in any Govt Medical College in India, the Founder of Sudhangshubala Foundation Trust (SFT), Mr Bhabesh Majumder had decided to bear the entire cost of education for 12 meritorious students from A&N Islands who have secured admission in MBBS course in a Govt Medical College on the mainland/ANIIMS, but are unable to pursue studies due to economic reasons. Accordingly, SBF has already taken full responsibility of a needy meritorious boy K Dilliswar Rao of Babbooflat to realize his dream to be a MBBS doctor by admitting him in ANIIMS.
Mr Bhabesh Majumder has now taken the responsibility of Ist year MBBS topper of ANIIMS Ms K Tasleem Banu for getting her dreams fulfilled of becoming an MBBS doctor, by granting admission fees of third semester of Rs 37,550/- for 2nd year MBBS course by Demand draft drawn from Axis Bank Ltd, Port Blair on Aug 29. A sum of Rs. 6,000/- pm as mess charge was also granted in favour of Ms Tasleem which will be deposited to her Bank account every month and a sum of Rs 12360/- has also been granted towards purchase of study materials.
Ms Tasleem hails from an economically poor class whose father Mr K Khalid is working in Agency House and mother Smt Jameela Bibi is a house wife while one sister and one brother are school going children. Earlier, Manful Islam Masjeed Committee and Humane Touch, an NGO came forward to extend financial assistance to Tasleem after she was selected for the MBBS course. Mr Bhabesh has also expressed gratitude to Ms Mariyam Bibi, former ZP Adhyaksha and others who have always appreciated the services of the foundation.
In the second year, though she topped in Ist year MBBS of ANIIMS, it became difficult for her father to continue her further studies in MBBS course due to poverty. SB Foundation then came forward and took full responsibility of entire study in ANIIMS of Ms Tasleem. As per the instructions of Mr Majumder payments will be released for Mess charges, books and other study materials including college uniform to all students under the scholarship scheme.
“I have just come to these islands to render my selfless services to the needy fellow islanders. From the MBBS students, who are granted scholarship from the Foundation, I want them to render at least two to years of service after becoming doctors in their own village or locality particularly for the benefit of poor patients. They should also consider bearing the educational expenses of a poor medical student of their locality,” wished Mr Majumder.
