Port Blair, Aug 31: A team of islands’ renowned singers including Anant Ram, Rajesh Ghosh and Mohammed Nisar visited the birth place of legendary play back singer Kishore Kumar at Khandwa Madhya Pradesh recently.
Reaching their, they went to the Samadhi of the great singer and paid floral tributes.
At the Samadhi sthal they joined other artists who had come all the way from Delhi, Itarasi, Indore and from other parts of the country and abroad.
They sang songs of late Kishore Da there, paying tributes. They visited his ancestral house also.
Later they took part in the cultural programme held at Gowrikunj auditorium. The audience applauded and enjoyed the singing of islands’ singers.
Huge round of applause was accorded when Anant Ram sang ‘O hansini ….meri hansini’. Rajesh Ghosh sang ‘Hame Thumse Pyar Kitna…’ and Nisar’s ‘Chehra hai ya Chand khila..’ were appreciated much. Another programme was organized at the local stadium by “Kishore Kumar prerna saanskritik samiti” also, where the islands’ trio joined other artists to render beautiful hit numbers of Kishore Kumar.
Talking to…. Shri. Anant Ram said the visit to the birth place of Kishore Da, had been their dream. They are grateful to almighty and friends who helped them to make the dream come true. He said they cannot forget the hospitality given to them at Khandwa by the local people.
The people were so impressed by their singing that they have invited islands’ artists to attend the annual programme to be held on 6th November this year. This was the first ever occasion, when Islands’ singers visited Khandwa.
