Port Blair, Aug 30: The Education Department & Department of Sports, Car Nicobar conducted the valedictory function of National Sports Day on Monday celebrated in memory of Late. Major Dhyanchand, Hockey Wizard of India at BJR Stadium, Tamaloo, Car Nicobar. Mr Deepak Yadav, Superintendent of Police, Car Nicobar was the chief guest and Mr Martin Luther, Secretary, Tribal Council graced the occasion as the guest of honour. Heads from various Departments and Tribal Council Member of Car Nicobar were also present during the valedictory function. The valedictory begins with garlanding the portrait of Major. Dhyanchand by the guest of honour by Mr Martin Luther, Secretary, Tribal Council, Car Nicobar. Mr Ved Prakash Mishra, Education Officer, Car Nicobar welcomed the gathering.
The final football match was played between GSSS Malacca and GSSS Lapathy in which GSSS Malacca was the winner by 5-3. Trophies and Medals were distributed to all the winners and runners-up of different games. Dr. U.N. Choudhary, Assistant Director (Sports), BJR Stadium, Tamaloo, Car Nicobar, proposed the vote of thanks.
