Port Blair, Aug 24: The Lt. Governor, A&N Islands, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi accompanied by the First Lady, Smt. Prem Mukhi and other dignitaries visited the buyer-seller meet ‘Andaman Bazaar’ at ITF ground this evening. The Industries Department, Andaman & Nicobar Administration is organising the event in order to provide direct marketing opportunities to the Self Help Groups (SHGs), farmers, marginal artisans and MSMEs.
The Lt Governor and the First Lady took keen interest in the stalls put up by the SHGs, farmers, marginal artisans and MSMEs and also interacted with the stall owners and enquired about their products on display. The Chief Secretary, Shri Anindo Majumdar and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion. The Secretary (Industries & Agriculture), Smt. R. Menaka briefed the Lt. Governor about the aims and objectives of conduct of the Andaman Bazaar.
Other collaborating partners of the buyers–sellers meet are Departments of Agriculture, Art & Culture, Tourism, Andaman Nicobar State Co-operative Bank Ltd., and NABARD.
There are 85 SHGs, 34 farmers, 11 artisans/handicrafts enterprises, 11 MSMEs, 2 Educational and 3 children’s game participants displaying their products, produce and services in this event. The fair has daily cultural programmes with self improvement skits and shows from 05.30 PM to 08.30 PM. The fair, which started on August, 22 will continue up to August 28, daily from 4 to 9 PM at ITF Ground, Port Blair.
