Port Blair, Aug 12: The All India Radio here will broadcast address by President of India, Mr Pranab Mukherjee to the nation on the eve of Independence Day, at 7 pm and address by Lt. Governor of A &N Islands, Lt. Gen. A.K.Singh (retd) to the Islanders at 8 pm on Aug 14.
AIR will also broadcast LIVE the National flag hoisting ceremony and address of the Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi to the nation from Red fort from 7.05 am on Aug 15 and LIVE broadcast of flag hoisting ceremony and address to the islanders by Lt. Governor Lt. Gen. A.K.Singh (retd) from Netaji Stadium from 8.50 am. Commentators will Miss. Jaisheela Jasinta Lakra, Programme Executive and Mr Zakir Hussain, Senior Grade Announcer.
Further, on the eve of Independence Day, a multilingual poetic symposium will be broadcast by All India Radio here on Aug 14 from 9.30 pm to 10.30 pm. On Aug 15 at 10.30 am, a discussion will be broadcast on the topic ” 70 years of Independence and our Islands”. Participants will Smt. Leela Varghese, Mr Bhanu Pratap Yadav and Dr. B.M.Bhatt and the broadcast will be moderated by Joint Director (News), Mr D.V.S.Deep.
