PORT BLAIR, Aug 12: The Chairperson, Port Blair Municipal Council, Smt Sheela Singh laid the foundation stone for Addition and Alteration of Community Hall at Haddo Ward No-l on Friday in the presence of Smt S.Usha, Senior Vice Chairperson, Mr Yashpal Garg, Secretary PBMC, Councillors, Mr Someshwar Rao, Smt Vinita Malhotra, Mr Eswar Rao, Mr K Ganeshan and other officials of the Council. The completion of the project will facilitate to cope up the existing requirement of the local population.
In her address, Smt Sheela Singh Chairperson, PBMC highlighted about the various projects which are being underway. She further stated that all the wards of the Municipal area are treated equally and said that no party difference is seen while carrying out the development works. In earlier occasion foundation stone were laid for various works, efforts are being initiated to complete the work in a time bound manner. She further informed the gathering that Ward No-1 comes under Zone-I under the Smart City project and requested the general public to cooperate with PBMC for the better execution of it developmental works.
Welcoming the gathering, Ward Councilor, Mr S.Karunakaran appreciated the efforts of PBMC and it was a long pending demand of the people to have a spacious Community Hall with other basic amenities. Mr K.Ganeshan Councillor, Ward no.8 exhorted that PBMC is committed to provide the basic amenities to the citizens and has embarked upon several developmental projects such as construction of Community Hall, Parks, footpaths, parking places, community toilets etc. He also appreciated the efforts of Mr S Karunakaran towards the welfare of the people of his Ward.
