Billyground, May 24: Livestock getting trapped in loose Bitumen spread over roads of Billyground area have become a common scene. It has been found that yesterday a goat got trapped in Bitumen, which was seeping out from some of the Bitumen Drums, dumped along Billyground’s main road. As livestock means livelihood for poor farmers, dozens of people reached the spot and rescued the goat, after a lot of efforts. Villagers allege that in many places Bitumen Drums have been dumped by APWD since last two to three months, which have now become a death trap for livestock and children.
“If we demand to repair our village roads their standard excuse is that they don’t have sufficient Bitumen, however we can see how Bitumen is wasted openly by APWD,” added a villager of Billyground.
Villagers fear that leaking Bitumen could also become a threat for small children of their village and demand immediate removal of all Bitumen drums from Billyground roads.
