Port Blair, Aug 08: Considering the importance of the National Event, Independence Day, the District Superintendent of Police, Mr Atul Kumar Thakur has urged the General public of these Islands to remain cautious during the Independence Day celebrations, and also urged the public that if they notice any suspicious activities or suspicious person, then they should inform the police immediately.
Addressing a press conference at the Aberdeen Police Station today at 04:15 pm the SP District said that to ensure any untoward incident public should remain alert.
During the press conference, he informed the media about the major burglary case, which has been solved by police and has already been reported by Andaman Sheekha.
He said that the South Andaman Police has apprehended 03 persons namely Sadakat Ali, S/o Rahmat Ali (37) yrs, R/o New Pahargaon, VikasDhali S/o William Dhali (39 yrs) R/o Prathrapur and Abdul Rasheed, S/o M. A. Lathif, R/o S. N. Road Goalghar, accused of committing burglary at the House of Dr. Sunil Kumar at Atlanta Point.
He added that almost all the stolen properties have been recovered from the possession of accused persons in connection with case crime No. 331/2016 dtd. 19-05-2016 U/s 457/380/411/120 (B) IPC.Inspr. Mahesh Kumar, SHO, P.S.Aberdeen and the special team comprising of ASI Vijay Shankar, ASI V. Hentho, ASI R. Radhakrishnan, PSI Dinesh Meena, HC Sajeet, PC’s Ashok Kumar, P.K.Mondal, Abdul Rasheed, Biswajit Baroi, Abhay Kumar Yadav had conducted search over the house of Sadakat Ali, S/o Rahmat Ali (37) yrs, R/o New Pahargaon from where some of the stolen articles were seized and then Abdul Rasheed, S/o M. A. Lathif, R/o S. N. Road, Goalghar, was also arrested who after committing burglary absconded from this Islands. On the receipt of this information on 05-06-2016 ASI Vijay Shankar, ASI R. Radha Krishnan and PC/2105 Ashok Kumar proceeded to Chennai and arrested the accused Abdul Rasheed and obtained transit remand from Chennai, he was produced before the CJM court on 07-08-2016 and obtained 03 days P. C. Remand.
During the house search of accused Abdul Rasheed most of the stolen properties (LED T.V Sony, Battery (Exide), L.G Microwave oven, Prestige cooker, Futura Tava, Borosil usable tray, CFSL bulbs, calculator, other house hold articles and tools for breaking the door and almirah) were recovered from the house of Abdul Rasheed at Goalghar and the same was seized under the cover of seizure memo in the presence of independent witness and was duly identified by the victim Dr. Sunil and his wife. The vehicle bearing registration No AN01/E-7954 Maruti Suzuki Alto used in the burglary was also seized.
Later during interrogation from Abdul Rasheed, he further disclosed the name of one Vikash Dhali S/o William Dhali R/o Prathrapur as his accomplice and both of them had hatched the criminal conspiracy to commit the said offence and later Vikas Dhali R/o Prothrapur was apprehended and during sustained interrogation, he admitted to his guilt and after giving his confessional statement, 05 Nos. watches were recovered and seized on 08/08/2016. The accused persons have been produced before the Hon’ble Court of CJM, from where Abdul Rasheed has been granted PC remand, Sadakat Ali to JC remand and VikasDhali will be produced tomorrow in the Hon’ble court. Investigation of the case continues.
The SP District further added that the Aberdeen Police had put a lot of efforts to crack the theft case and most of the items have been recovered and remaining some items will be recovered soon.
