Port Blair, Aug 07: Mr. Sudhir Biswas, former Up- Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad, A&N Islands met to the chairman of college Development Council, Pondicherry University, who are on the official visit in A&N Islands on dated 6th august at Circuit house, South Point Port Blair and raised following very genuine issues regarding the higher education of the islands students.
Sudhir Biswas has raised that the JNRM College as we know the premier college of these UT, A&N Islands catering more than 3000 students in various disciplines the aspirant students of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, those who passed/completed the B.A in Economics, History from our JNRM college, Port Blair would not able to fulfil their aspirant to go for higher study like Post Graduate Courses in the said streams in the same college at Port Blair and it is quite impossible the poor graduates students to go at mainland for their higher study due to lack of adequate finance which will be required for their higher study. More over the majority of parents of our islands of the passed out graduates in the said streams are not able to afford to send their children including girls to go to the colleges/University at Mainland or other states in India due to poverty and also lack of seat and huge financial requirement. As results the aspirant students are disheartened and living under the depression.
Biswas also urged to introduce the Bengali in B.Ed course from the next academic session 2017 for the benefit of the aspirants students of this UT, He also submitted the papers/documents which was send by the Pondicherry University to him regarding the introduction of the Bengali in B.Ed at TGCE, Port Blair . And due to non availability of B.Ed course in Bengali subject at the TGCE, A&N islands, the Bengali students are deprived of doing education courses at there.
Whereas the entire infrastructure including class rooms are available with the B.Ed College at Port Blair for introducing Bengali in B.Ed at TGCE, Port Blair. Beside JNRM college there are more colleges and maximums schools of A&N islands where the students are studying in Bengali medium and the Bengali population covering the maximum volume of total propulsion as per the census in A&N Islands .But unfortunately there is no provision for Bengali students of these islands to take admission for B.Ed courses in Bengali at existing TGCE college at A&N islands.
Sudhir Biswas also informed that the passed out UG and PG students of A&N Islands are facing a lot of hardship due to lack of Degree Certificates, The Pondicherry University is not issuing the Degree Certificate to the passed out students of JNRM , ANCOL and Mayabunder Degree college since 2013. He requested the chairman of the said committee to issue the degree certificate to the passed out students yearly for benefit of the islands students.
After a long discussion, the Chairman of the said committee has assured to look in to the said matter on priority basis, so that the said faculty may be started in the next academic year.
