Port Blair, Aug 5: An unfortunate incident was reported on 31/07/2016 wherein one person namely, Mukunda Roy expired due to drowning by Crocodile attack at Loha Barrak, Port Mout village under Ferrargunj Tehsil. The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman has sanctioned and released an amount of Rs. 1, 50, 000/- (Rupees one lakh fifty thousand Only) towards immediate relief/financial assistance to the wife of the deceased, Smt Bijaya Biswas.
The financial assistance has been sanctioned under “A&N Islands Scheme for Providing Financial Assistance to Victims of Accidents (who are not covered under the prevailing NDRF/SDRF norms approved by the GoI.
