Port Blair, Aug 05: Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament today raised the issue in the Parliament during Zero hour demanding for grant of 1/30th of Pay + DA to the DRMs working under APWD.
Shri Bishnu Pada Ray requested GoI for intervention in DRMs issue for getting their rights. APWD is having 19 Division and total 4249 Mazdoors were working from last 5 to 20 years on daily rated basis, whereas 2883 posts are lying vacant in the department. The DRMs are going for a strike on 10th August 2016. On 7th June, 1988 GoI passed a rule that DRMs are eligible for 1/30 of Pay + DA.
He said that, other departments like State Transport Service, Tourism, Port Blair Municipal Council (PBMC)etc. have implemented the same but in contrary, the APWD has not implemented the same.
