Port Blair, July 28: On 27.07.16, the A&N Police in coordination with Forest, Revenue, Education, APWD, Health Services, AAJVS, PRI Members, Fiber Boat Owners Association, Baratang and A&N Fire Service conducted a Mock Exercise at Tourist Spot, Lime Stone Cave, Baratang. The Scenario of the Mock Exercise was “Terrorist Attack”.
The entire exercise was conducted under the direct supervision of Shri. Parvinder Singh, Superintendent of Police, North & Middle Andaman District, who conducted Table Top exercise with all the concerned departments a day before the Mock Exercise and briefed all the representatives about their responsibilities to be discharged. The DFO Baratang, Shri. Murali Shankar, IFS also actively participated in the Mock Exercise and provided all the necessary assistance as the area was belonging to Forest Department and the Forest personnel were well aware of the topography of the venue and its surroundings.
The Mock Drill included dissemination of information from Lime Stone Cave to Baratang, establishment of coordination between all the departments, providing of manpower, movement of adequate force to Lime Stone Cave, cordoning of the area, intensifying patrolling in the sea, combing operation by QRT consisting Commandos and neutralizing of explosives, search & rescue etc. The exercise was fruitful and necessary steps will be taken to overcome the shortcomings noticed during the Mock Exercise.
