Port Blair, July 26: The Islands Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) organized an interactive session with the Member of Parliament, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray on 24th July 2016 at Hotel Sentinel, Port Blair.
A good number of people and members of the ICCI attended the interactive session. Shri D. P. Singh, President, ICCI welcomed the MP and members of ICCI and expressed sincere gratitude to him in taking initiatives for over all developments of the A&N Islands.
Speaking on the occasion, The President on behalf of ICCI highlighted some of the major issues of these islands related to Shipping sector, Road and Power sector, Tourism sector, extension the limits of IV Act and registration of dinghies and boats of poor people under Joy/Game Fishing Act to facilitate their movement in the coastal areas which are not yet covered under IV act. etc.
Shri Rasheed, Chairman, Tribal Development Council and Vice President, ICCI also projected the issues relating to tribal people of Southern Group of Islands.
The MP appreciated the points raised by the ICCI and assured to take up the issues as suggestions by them at the appropriate level on receipt of the demands/suggestions from the ICCI as per discussion. The Hon’ble MP after interactive session informed the gathers about the landmark decisions of the MoRTH, GoI, through Power Point presentation about rehabilitation and up-gradation of NH-223 and c/o bridges/rods under CRF fund.
The MP had also attended the meeting with the Andaman Chamber of Commerce & Industry at Hotel Sea Shell on 24.07.2016 hosted by the ACCI and highlighted about the decision of MoRTH, GoI with regard to rehabilitation and upgradation of NH-223 and c/o of bridges and roads under CRF. Besides this, the MP also answered the various questions raised by the Members of ACCI with regard creation of infrastructure and development etc. during the meeting.
