Port Blair, July 22: A meeting of all stake holders involved in Bakery & Bakery products manufacturer of Port Blair was called at the conference hall of the Commissioner Food Safety/Directorate of Health Services, Port Blair, wherein the Commissioner Food Safety, Dr. Shipra Paul, chaired the meeting. On the onset the Designated Officer (Food Safety), South Andaman has apprised the stake holder the reason for calling the meeting.
The Commissioner Food Safety then briefed the gathering about the ban imposed by the Food Safety & Standards Authority of India on Potassium Bromate and Potassium Iodate, which appeared in the official website of Food Safety & Standards Authority of India and waiting for an official communication from the FSSAI in this regard.
The Stake holders has clarified that they are not adding Potassium Bromate and Potassium Iodate and assured their full cooperation to the enforcement staffs to conduct surprise inspections.
The Commissioner Food Safety has refuted the allegations made in a leading Private News Paper on 6th July, 2016 regarding apprehension raised whether Andaman & Nicobar Islands has complied with the Govt. of India ban. She further stated that such news item may cause panic among the general public. She has assured the General Public that the enforcement staff a strict vigil on all Food Business Establishment who are involved in the manufacture and sale of Bakery products.
