Port Blair, July 18: The Director General of Police, A & N Islands, Mr Rajesh Malik, convened a meeting of all District Superintendents of Police at the to hold discussions on emergent national interest such as disaster management, terrorist threats, the importance of intelligence sharing, cooperation among various security agencies in these Islands and resources requirement of police including Police modernization. SOPs to deal with various kinds of threats were discussed in the meeting. IGP, SP’s of all the three districts and SP PMF gave their preparation to deal with terrorist attacks and natural disasters etc.
Keeping in view present scenario of emerging terrorism threats, the modalities to combat, to tackle with terrorist threats /attack were discussed in accordance with the SOPs and as per present situation at national and International level. The action plan and role of all stakeholders for disaster management and terrorist attacks were also discussed. Awareness campaign to be organized with the public and students to aware regularly about disaster management and terrorist attacks. The need of regular meeting with liasioning and co- ordination with various stakeholders including public was discussed. Mr Malik also directed all district SPs to conduct regular mock drill in their areas alongwith all concerned agencies before Aug 15 to assess and to check preparedness.
