Port Blair, July 17: The President, Pradesh Congress Committee, Mr Kuldeep Rai Sharma has invited the attention of the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration towards the difficulties being faced by the general public due to discontinuance of boat service in between Port Blair and Diglipur. In a letter, Mr. Kuldeep stated that according to general public of Diglipur area no boat service is made in between Port Blair and Diglipur for the last few days. Due to non availability of regular boat service to Diglipur from Port Blair the populace of Diglipur particularly aged persons and patients who are unable to travel by road / bus are facing much difficulties for their to and fro journey between Diglipur and Port Blair. Further more, small farmers of Diglipur are also not able to bring their agriculture products to market at Port Blair. There use to have boat services twice in a week between Port Blair and Diglipur which has been discontinued for the reasons best known to the department. The PCC President has urged the Chief Secretary to restore boat service between Port Blair and Diglipur at least twice in a week as was existing in the past so as to ease the difficulties being faced by the populace of Diglipur.
