Port Blair, July 13: The Chairman of Our Rights Organisation (ORO), Mr Saravanan has expressed concern over shortage of space at the Christian Graveyard opposite Netaji Stadium.
In a letter to the Lt. Governor, Mr Saravanan said that owing to shortage of space at the Graveyard, scenes of decaying bodies can be seen during funerals.
Such conditions also disturb the sentiments of the Christian community.
Several representations from the Islands Christian Minister Forum to the Lt. Governor, MP, Deputy Commissioner and the Chairperson of the Municipal Council for redressal of the concerns and allotment of new graveyard have proved futile, said Mr Saravanan urging the intervention of the Lt. Governor in the matter.
