Port Blair, July 12: The long time pending issue of introducing Bengali as one of the method subject in the B. Ed College has been raised once again with prominence.
Raising the issue with the Chief Secretary of A & N Administration, the former Up- Adhayksh of South Andaman, Zilla Parishad, Mr. Sudhir Biswas stated that many students complete their education in Bangali medium and also complete their MA in Bengali medium.
Students, who aspire to go to technical and teaching courses like B. Ed; are not able to fulfill their dreams as the B. Ed college here does not offer courses in Bengali.
And it is quite impossible for poor graduates from economically weaker section to go mainland for their B.Ed courses in Bengali. And due to non availability of B.Ed course in Bengali subject at the TGCE, A&N islands, the Bengali students are deprived of joining education courses at here.
Mr. Biswas also added that Bengali population being the majority of total population, the student is left to face such distress. In the year 2012, correspondence started between the College and the Pondicherry University for the formation of necessary syllabus and permission of the course, but no steps has been taken yet.
Mr. Biswas has requested the Chief Secretary to intervene in this matter and introduce the Bengali course as soon as possible for the betterment of the Bengali students.
