Port Blair, July 11: The Panchayti Raj Institute members of, Beodnabad Panchayat has alleged lack of support from the administration for development in their wards.
Addressing a Press Conference at MP Office this afternoon at 03:30 pm the Pradhan, Up-Pramukh (Port Blair), Zilla Parishad Member of Beodnabad Panchayat and Adhyaksha Zilla Parishad alleged lack of support from the administration for any kind of development in their Ward.
While addressing the Press Conference, the Pradhan, Beodnabad Panchayat said that Mrs Shanti Devi said that she has completed nearly 9 months but till date no work has been started in their ward. She added that for any kind of work they have to go for number of permissions, approval, NOC from the administration and even after approaching hundred times we receive only disappointment.
She said that it is nearly 10 years she has demanded for a ferry service from Rut Land but still we are waiting for a response.
Further addressing the press conference, the Up-Pramukh, Port Blair Panchyat Samiti, Mr Mohan Nair said that the Lt Governor himself when he visited the Beodnabad Panchayat had promised that he will regularize the encroachments from 2002 but till date there is no progress in that.
He added the farmers of Macca Pahad are struggling due to this because they are sitting in encroached land from years and are not getting any subsidy just because they are farming in the encroached lands.
Further addressing the media, the Zilla Parishad Member, Beodnabad Constituency, Mrs Baby Fareeda said that she is demanding for a Commerce stream at Rangachang School but she has not received any positive response from the administration yet.
Later the Adyaksha Zilla Parishad, South Andaman, Mrs Minoti Biswas said that she had requested for a advisor and an OSD when she took the charge of Adhyaksha but till date the administration has not provided her the basic need. She added that after so much of request just a month back she got a PS but that too of no use. She further said that the administration had also deducted the funds of PRIs, then how come development will take place in the islands.
