Port Blair, July 06: Shri.C.Samuel Chelliah, Regional Director, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & A & N Islands, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India met and interacted with NSS Programme Officers and volunteers of JNRM on 6th July 2016.
Addressing the gathering Shri. Chelliah described NSS as the largest youth organization in the country and also active abroad. He emphasized the importance of NSS certificates for future careers. He described the volunteers as young, optimistic, unique, talented and hard working.
He promised that the NSS volunteers of Islands will be considered for camps and exchange programmes on the Mainland. Speaking on the occasion Dr.N.Francis Xavier, Principal, JNRM requested the Regional Director to sanction one more NSS unit in JNRM and consider the volunteers for programmes conducted on the Mainland so that they may get better exposure.
He also called upon the NSS Programme Officers to enroll and motivate more and more students in NSS organizations. Dr.Kandimuthu, Programme Officer, NSS welcomed the gathering. Shri.K.Venkatesan, Programme Officer, NSS described his experience in NSS. Dr.S.K.Jha, Programme Officer, NSS proposed vote of thanks. Dr.N.Lakshmi, Programme Officer, NSS moderated the programme.
