Port Blair, July 4: The Andaman & Nicobar Islands Inland Vessel Rule 2016 has been notified vide gazette notification No. 02/2-16/F. No. 13-14/2015-TR dated 06.01.2016. As per IV Rules 2016, all the mechanized boats are to be registered under IV Rules. For registration of FRP/OBM boats the OBM operators need to successfully complete Power Boat Handling Certificate, Lifesaving Techniques Certificate and Capsule Certificate course.
Recently the Tourism Department in association with DBRAIT, organized Capsule course for the OBM boat operators, at Havelock, Neil Island, Port Blair, Baratang, and Diglipur. All the OBM boat operators who have successfully completed the Capsule Course have to now attend the Power Boat Handling Certificate and Lifesaving Techniques Certificate course, for getting their boats registered under IV Rules 2016.
To facilitate OBM boat operators in getting their boats registered under IV Rules 2016, the Tourism Department in association with National Institute of Water Sports, Goa, is conducting certificate course in (i) Power Boat Handling – Tiller (PBH-T) Certificate (ii) Lifesaving Techniques Water Sports (LST-WS) Certificate at ITF ground, VIP Road, Port Blair, during fourth week of July 2016.
All interested OBM boat operators have been advised to get their name registered by submitting duly filled up application form, available on the official website www.and.nic.in & also with Planning Section of tourism department. Duly filled up application form along with documents like Medical fitness certificate duly issued by a registered medical practitioner, Date of Birth certificate, Photo ID-Aadhar card / Election card /Islander card, 04 nos. of p/p size photographs, and complete address, with contact phone no. / mobile no. to submitted to Mr Sreeprakash, Sr. Investigator, Planning Section, Tourism Department (contact phone number 03192 – 230239), on or before July 11 by 04.30 pm,:-
The candidate should have completed 18 years of age at the time of admission to the course. A swimming proficiency test (100 meter lap in 3 minutes) of all registered candidates will be convened on 20.07.2016 at 09.00 a.m. at Netaji Stadium Swimming Pool, Port Blair. On completion of fitness cum swimming proficiency test, the successful candidates would be eligible to attend the courses mentioned above. The date and venue of the course will be intimated to the successful candidates through Press Note.
The duration of the certificate course on Lifesaving Technique-Watersports (LST-WS) will be 5 days with fee of Rs 4500 which has to be deposited in advance by way of demand draft in favor of National Institute of Water Sports, payable at Panaji after qualifying in swimming proficiency test and fees once deposited shall not be refunded. The duration of the course on Powerboat Handling – Tiller (PBH-T) will also be 5 days with fee of Rs 4500.
Only successful trainees would be given certificates and licenses, as the case may be. As per the Rules, trainees failing to meet stipulated standards would have to appear again for Re-test at a location as decided by the NIWS, within 03 months from the last day of the said course. The licenses & certificates are valid for 02 years and shall have to be renewed within stipulated period for further use.
