Port Blair, May 20: To the much relief to law abiding Port Blarians, Andaman and Nicobar Police has launched crackdown on those who consume alcohol in public places.
At present raids are being conducted at night hours in Science Centre to Corbyn’s Cove coastal belt. According to report a lot many people have already been caught consuming liquor at night, who were asked to leave the place, with warning. The Police Department launched crack down after series of reports appeared in local media regarding illegal and immoral activities in the said stretch of road at night hours. According the reports the Superintendent of Police of South Andaman, Mr. SBS Tyagi is overseeing these raids himself.
“We wantAndaman Roadto be safe for everybody and would like to see people going for a walk on the said stretch of road, without any fear. They consume liquor and we can’t predict how would they react with others under the influence of liquor that is why are driving them away,” a senior officer of Police Department said.
