Port Blair, June 29: On Wednesday at about 12.30 pm a police party consisting of PC Egnesus Lakra, IRBn CTs Omkar Yadav, Rakesh, George Helly and Sumit Kumar while on special checking at JPP Parlobjig No.15 intercepted a truck bearing Reg. No. AN-01/E-1236 coming from Diglipur. On search of the truck, 33 Nos. 750 ml bottles of Bagpiper Deluxe Whiskey co-sealed were recovered from the truck. On enquiry from the owner/driver he could not produce any valid license or permit to carry the above quantity of IMFL.
The 33 IMFL bottles and Truck bearing Reg. No. AN-01/E-1236 were seized and the person namely A.Subramani S/o Alager Swamy (30) yrs R/o Garacharma, Port Blair was arrested on the spot. A case under Regulation III of 1876 has been registered at Police Station Kadamtala and is being investigated. The above deployment was supervised by SI G.Suresh Kumar, SHO PS Kadamtala.
