Port Blair, June 28: Whilst on a visit for an Army related function at Chandigarh, the Lt Governor, Lt Gen A K Singh (Retd), visited Dr. Diwan Singh Kalepani Museum at Siswan, Punjab and paid tributes to the great patriot of the A&N Islands. The daughter-in-law of Shaheed Dr. Diwan Singh, Smt Gurdarshan Kaur Dhillon welcomed the Lt Governor and apprised him about the museum and contribution of this great patriot in the freedom struggle at the A&N Islands.
The literary work of Dr Diwan Singh, who dedicated himself to the freedom struggle at Andaman and Nicobar Islands has been preserved in the Shaheed, Dr. Diwan Singh Kalepani Museum at Siswan. The small museum was built with the efforts and contribution of his family and was renovated and inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Punjab on December 2013.
The Lt Governor invited the family to visit Andamans at their convenience and conveyed the great respect and affection people of Andamans have for Dr. Diwan Singh. He also assured the family of all help in maintaining this noble venture.
