Port Blair, June 21: The Botanical Survey of India, Andaman & Nicobar Regional Centre, Port Blair, celebrated International Day of Yoga on Tuesday in the seminar hall on the Yoga for harmony and health.
The Medical Officer, School Health, Directorate of Health Services, Dr. Meena Kalyan Kadbhane spoke on benefits of practicing Yoga as it provides a holistic approach to health and wellbeing. Yoga also brings harmony in all walks of life. The resource person, Mr Ashish Kumar Mondal, Vibhag Pracharak, Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh, A & N Islands, displayed some simple yoga practices known for disease prevention and lifestyle related disorders. Other resource persons, Mr Chandra Kumar, Mr Udai Kumar, Mr Nilesh Rao and Master Kaushik, displayed the yoga practices in accordance with common Yoga protocol for International Day of Yoga. All the officers and staff of BSI participated in the practice. The information brochures and CD’s were distributed to the participants.
Welcoming the gathering, Dr. Lal Ji Singh, Deputy Director & Scientist ‘D’, delivered welcome address and emphasized upon the importance of Yoga. Dr. Sanjay Mishra, Scientist-B, proposed the vote of thanks.
