Port Blair, June 19: “Our Rights Organization” has raised the Issue of lack of medical staffs and Doctors and Medical Equipments in all Dispensaries, Primary Health Centers, Community Health Centers, District Hospitals as well as in referral Hospital at G.B. Pant Hospital.
In a letter addressed to the Lt. Governor of these Islands, the chairman of the Organization Mr. Sarvanan raised the issue of acute shortages of medical staffs.
Mr. Sarvanan in his letter stated that the Dispensaries, Primary Health Centers, Community Health Centers, District Hospitals as well as in referral Hospital at G.B. Pant Hospital face the shortage of medical staffs, doctors and equipments.
In remote areas of PHCs/CHCs there are not having facilities like X-Ray, Ultra sound etc. The Ambulance facility is also worst due to non-availability of permanent Drivers in the Health Department which causes the patients to suffer a lot when they are referred to Port Blair.
He also stated that the Patients from Distant Islands have to be referred to G B Pant Hospital due to lack of medical facilities which has caused an increase in the number of referred patients.
“Our Rights Organization” on behalf of the general public of these Islands requested the Lt. Governor to look into the matter.
