Port Blair, June 07: ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (CIARI), North & Middle Andaman concluded a three days training programme on “Repair and Maintenance of Farm Machinaries” at Chainpur w.e.f. 02/06/16 to 04/06/16. The programme was inaugurated in the presence of Smt. Saralawati, Pradhan, Chainpur; PRI-member, Chainpur-2 and Dr. B. L. Kasinath, Senior Scientist and Head, ICAR-KVK, N & M Andaman.
In her inaugural address, Smt. Saralawati appreciated the initiative of Krishi Vigyan Kendra in imparting skill based training programme and urged the farmers to take benefit of the programme.
On the occasion, Dr. B. L. Kasinath highlighted the importance of farm machineries in day to day activities of farm. He informed the farmers that use of farm machineries will help in saving their precious time and money.
Speaking on the occasion, he told the farmers that the training will equip them with requisite skill to repair and maintain their farm machinarie on their own. In the technical session, Er. Manoj Kumar, SMS (Agricultural Engineering), informed the farmers about different types of agricultural machineries, plant protection equipments, harvesting and threshing machineries, and their maintenance and stressed the need for servicing the farm machineries at appropriate time. In his lecture and practicals, he covered the topics related to operation of power tiller viz. how to start, check the oil level, use of brake system, cleaning carborator etc.
He also discussed on issues related to starting of the machine, various fittings and accessories. Dr. Shardul Vikram Lal, SMS (Animal Science) delivered the lecture about the importance of farm animal as substitute to farm machinery. A total of 33 practicing farmers and farmwomen were participated in the training programme. The training was organized under the of supervision Dr. B. L. Kasinath , Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK, N& M Andaman and under the guidance of Dr. S. Dam Roy, Director, CIARI, Port Blair.
